Accurate guidance based on real NAVBLUE bidding experience.
Typically, we cherry pick a list of preferred pairings and stack those at the top of your bid, followed by broader award statements or catch alls.
We may need to use a tiered bidding strategy—starting with your ideal preferences and gradually relaxing constraints to increase the chances of holding something acceptable as we go.
The most effective method is to request consecutive days off at the front, back, or both ends of your vacation. Working from your vacation outward.
Denial Mode refers to a process within the PBS where the scheduler temporarily overrides or ignores certain bid preferences—such as Set Condition, Prefer Off, or Avoid Pairings—in order to construct a legal and complete schedule. It typically activates when preferences conflict with coverage requirements, and its purpose is to ensure all flying is adequately staffed.
Both are powerful tools within PBS that affect how your bid logic is applied. Yes, they can be useful—but we’ll need to discuss your specific goals and seniority before deciding which one is right for your situation. The wrong use can severely impact your bid outcome.
